My boyfriend and I went to Washington DC for vacation recently and stayed at the Embassy Row on Dupont Circle (had a great experience at that hotel, btw). We were thinking of what to eat for dinner, so I looked up some places close by on Yelp. After reading all these positive reviews about New Dynasty, we thought we'd give it a shot. It's a hidden gem in Washington DC. You don't notice it right away, especially since there are a lot of fancy restaurants around Dupont Circle. The decor is nothing special on the inside It looks like a fast food joint, and if run like one too. You order in the front, they call out your order and you grab a seat to eat your meal. The food was delicious. People were raving about the Indonesian fried rice, so that's what I got. My boyfriend got the garlic chicken dish. The fried rice was delicious! I usually like to see peas and carrots in my fried rice, but this was so good, it didn't matter to me. Not too salty and the soy sauce isn't too overwhelming (problems I usually have with Chinese food). My boyfriend really enjoyed his dish as well. For the quality and quantity, the price is worth it. I believe my dish was only $8 and his was $7. We were both stuffed afterwards. Well worth the $$ spent!TIP: If you are a college student, show your college ID. Doesn't matter from which university you're from, they will give you a free drink or a free soup!

I wanted to like the place. I really did. So much so that I walked a little over a mile out of my way to visit the restaurant. The place looked clean enough, and the service was quick if a bit inattentive. But there' s no excuse for barely luke-warm food (I ate in and both the rice and tofu weren't hot). And worse, the the rice wasn't fresh! In a Chinese restaurant! The two big scoops of rice on the plate actually had some tough/dried bits on the outside edges.I doubt if I'll be back.

Gross. Not flavorful, hair in my food.Yeah, it's cheap, but this food only fills you up, it is NOT good Chinese food. Go to City Lights of China instead! Also right in Dupont.(Which for the record, is not great *Chinese* food, but is Chinese as far as what DC has to offer.)

Reliable and friendly Chinese restaurant - they are a staple in the neighborhood and do a great job on a variety of dishes. I like the Hunan chicken with light oil and brown rice. Super fast, and reasonable priced, this is on my weekly rotation.

Very "healthy" style Chinese food. No grease, the egg rolls were super clean and so was the rest of the food.Soo clean that I almost wanted it to be a little more greasy, like the dishes lacked sauce which made it sort of bland. We ordered 5 dishes and total was $67 which was super expensive. I'm used to hole in walls Chinese which are cheaper and way better.I dunno if ill be back, I'm disappointed I spent so much and we ate so little of it because it just wasn't worth it.

delicious and cheap chinese cant really go wrong with anything. but i really recommend the indonesian fried rice. i usually never order fried rice since its just rice...but this is different. its so good. whenever i go in there, there are tons of people from the indonesian embassy across the street eating there. what are they eating? the indonesian fried rice. its so good.the people are friendly.the soup is tasty.the food is a bit too oily, but most chinese food is. the price for heaping portions of tasty food from new dynasty cannot be beaten.

Pretty standard hole-in-the-wall chinese food and very cheap. Probably not good for you, but again, it was super cheap and pretty good.
